Mighty Hunter

For those of you who live under a rock, or not in Minnesota, or don't keep up on these things, deer hunting season is in full swing.  We made the trek back home for the occasion and Eric had high hopes of baging a deer.  He personaly has not shot a deer in several years.  He hunts with cousins, uncles, his dad and his brother so there is usually at least one deer to split up.  I got a text with this picture at 8:18 am the first morning he was out, sucess!!  An eight point buck.  I know he was a little worried that the new gun he had taken out the past couple of years had jinxed his chances but it must be his turn to get a deer.

I asked him about the hunt and this is his account. He said that he was so cold he was just about to leave the spot he was sitting and walk down to where some other people where when he saw the deer.  He could only see through a small opening in the brush but was able to get off two shots, killing the deer.

His cousin also got a deer right away.  Doug's deer is bigger, he said it is over 200 pounds.  But Eric is happy with his deer because his has eight points and Doug's only has seven.  Either way, they both got pretty nice deer.  I would say it was worth it to drive back to Minnesota and sit in a cold deer stand if the pay off was bagging a deer he is proud of.
