Grandpa and Grandma's

The kids and I are spending the week with my parents. Eric came with us and stayed a couple of days too but he had to go back home for work. We have been having fun with mom, dad and a couple of my brothers. David ended up being able to stay an extra two nights at home and the kids had fun running down to jump on him in the morning. We even got to see my brother Eddy, the only brother not still living at home. My dad sold his truck and the man that purchased it was from out east so he flew in. The airport is an hour away but Eddy lives near it so he gave the guy a ride. He said it was a very quiet ride, the man is from Mongolia and speaks almost no English. I couldn't even use my preschool level Chinese on him because he doesn't know Chinese either as he lived closer to Russia so knows Russian instead. We wondered aloud after he left if he would be able to find he way out of a small town in North Dakota, to the freeway over an hour away and back to Virginia. Dad did show him on the map the best way to go, hope he makes it!

My mom's parents still live here and grandma loves that mom and dad have moved back to town. Mom said she sees her mother at least once per day and most days twice. I think it helps grandma a lot to have mom here, grandpa has Alzheimer's so she needs to get out of the house sometimes. She has been over here a couple times and we have been over there a couple of times too.
Micah is having fun finding all of grandma's toys.
Grace is entertaining herself by taking toys away from Micah.

Grandma had not seen JJ yet so she takes the opportunity to hold him when she comes over to mom and dad's. He has been a very good baby for her. Mom, the three kids and I walked over to grandma's Monday morning and he exploded in his diaper and all over the outfit he was wearing. Fortunately this is not my first experience with a newborn and I came prepared with not only extra diapers but a full change of clothes. Not that it really would have mattered, grandma live only a couple blocks from my parents so we could have run home. It was so nice to get out in the sun for a walk, I know Grace and Micah loved it. Micah did not want to go inside when we got back to mom's.

It was my grandpa's 85th birthday this week so we are celebrating a couple of times. He came to check on grandma once when she was here so we all had cookies and doughnuts with afternoon coffee. The next afternoon we had cake at grandma's house with my uncle and his family. Mom's sisters and their families are coming out this weekend at varying times to continue the celebrating. It is nice to be able to spend some time with my family before I have to go back to work. This way I get to spend some time with my mom and her and dad get to see my kids for a couple of days. Now that dad has a regular job and his home every night it is fun to be able to visit with him at night too.
