Back at the Farm

After a whole month in western North Dakota we returned to the farm.  Now that the snow is gone there is so much to do!  We got right down to work.  There has been snow on the ground since we bought the place so the kids have not explored the yard until now.  They are having so much fun, getting dirty and finding new places to play every day.

Eric was in the field for several days, disking ahead of the planter.  He disked down the field in front of our house.  We also worked on the yard quite a bit.  I'm pretty sure every branch that fell in the past two years (at least!) was left right where it fell.  There were some pretty substantial branches strewn about the yard.

Five new animals have been added to our menagerie.  We ended up with two dogs from the litter the year before Sampson.  Their names are Jack and Kessler, already named when we got them.  They are a nice addition to our pack of dogs.

The other three animals are calves, two heifers and a steer.  They have had some ups and downs health wise but the kids really enjoy helping feed them every day.  Now our farm is officially begun.  Someday we will sell the grown up calves and start making money!

Our winter was so long and the kids spent so much time inside.  I am glad they can run around and play outside.  Life is so much better when they can be out of the house and get some energy our running in the yard.
