Road Trip: Part 2

Day 2 of our road to Chippy's wedding in Idaho we woke up in Bozeman MT after driving through the night.  Bozeman is where Chippy went to college and lived for a year or so, it is also where he met his wife.  We stopped at his college to pick up a bike he had to leave when he moved to Idaho.  We also made a quick stop for coffee at the coffee shop/pottery store he used to work at.

Now we were really starting to see some mountains.  We climbed up into the Rockies soon after leaving the city.  We spent all morning winding up and through the beautiful mountain passes watching a river run along near the road.

A couple hours out of Bozeman we got into Idaho, still a six hour drive to Boise.  We convinced Dad to stop for lunch an hour and a half sooner than he had planned.  When kids are hungry, they need to eat!  He found a city park with a playground in Rexburg ID so the kids could get out and run around for a little while.  At this point, none of the kids had left the RV for anything more than quickly running in somewhere to use the bathroom.  We all needed to get out for a little while.  The weather was beautiful and the park was great.  I began to regret packing for the cold MN weather we had before we left on the trip.  The kids had one pair of shorts each.

Back on the road, Dad did stop at the place he wanted to stop for lunch originally.  There is a rest area in ID that was apparently the site of a volcanic eruption a long time ago.  Lava rocks are scattered all over and some look like they are pushing up through the ground, it was fun to see and walk around for a while.  My brother-in-law took some of the kids on a quick hike over the rocks, they turned back when they saw the "beware of rattlesnakes" sign.

We rolled into Boise Thursday evening.  Rachel's family and my dad had both rented cars so we picked them up first so Rachel could get over to the hotel they were staying at.  Raced over the house my dad rented for the weekend, changed everyone out of pajamas and into presentable clothing, then raced over to the groom's supper.

Almost everyone was there already.  I saw my sister for the first time in nearly three years, it was so wonderful.  I cried, thank you Grandma A.  All of my parent's grandchildren were also together for the first time in almost three years.  It was great to get there safely and be able to see everyone.

Don't go away, there are still more fun adventures, tomorrow we go to Chippy's wedding!!
