Summertime = fun at the lake! The kids have had several chances to get in the water this summer. Before we moved, we went to a lake up north with our neighbor a couple of times. But now that we live across the street from a lake we try to go as often as we can. It has been pretty hot the last couple weeks so the kids constantly ask if we can go to the beach.
The older two have been working on jumping off the dock at the public beach near us. At first they couldn't do it without the (relative) safety of an inflatable floaty. Grace has gotten a lot bolder and can do it on her own now.
JJ is having a hard time understanding the best way to utilize his floaty. Most of the time he runs around the beach with it hanging around his neck. Even if he did wear it around his waist or lie on it to float in the water, it wouldn't be very useful since he almost never goes in water over his knees.
Grace has been doing really well learning how to swim on her own. She is not afraid to put her head under water and is learning how to use her hands and legs to move through the water.
Before we moved in June the kids had fun in our little inflatable pool. I set it up on the deck and the last couple weeks at the farm they would all put on swimsuits in the morning instead of getting dressed. Our new puppy chewed a lot of holes in it though, I gave up patching it and ended up throwing it out. It is so fun that we have warm weather and can spend time in the sun and water. If we had winter with nothing to look forward to I don't think anyone would stay in MN!
