Lookie here, lookie here, good times have come our way
A year and a half ago when we moved to ND Eric had a plan. That plan was to pay off debt, buy a farm and move back to MN in 2014. We have paid off a good chunk of debt so he started actively looking for a place in MN. He found this one. It is a foreclosed farm with a four bedroom, two bath home. Since it is foreclosed it is not what you would call "move in ready!" We have some work ahead of us but it is going to be so much fun.
Here is the kitchen. Obvious needs include appliances and a couple drawers. Beyond that we will probably change the color and remove the totally awesome red brick textured wall paper. New flooring is also in the future. Since there is both an eat in area in the kitchen and a nice dining room, we will maybe fully remodel the kitchen at some point to make it bigger and absorb the eating area.
There are three smaller bedrooms and a bathroom upstairs. The rooms may be small but they all have a good-sized closet. When we considered building we wanted our kid's bedrooms to be on the small side, just big enough for a twin bed and a couple other items. They can spend time outside or with the family. There is one bedroom on the main level, it is smallish also. But it is right next to a small living room so we plan to knock down the wall between them and make a bigger bedroom for us. The living room is unneeded as there are two big family rooms, one at each end of the house.
Here is the family room built onto the north end of the house. It needs new carpet and a coat of paint but it is going to be a nice living room. I'm kind of excited about the fireplace.
Since it is a farm, several outbuildings are scattered about the property. Outbuildings are not my department so here are a couple of pictures, draw your own conclusions!
I'm looking forward to making the house our home. We will have fun picking out paint and carpet and curtains. And, as we get there, a new washer/dryer set and bigger fridge. The basement is lined with shelves so maybe I'll take a wild stab at canning! The location could not be much better either, it is right on a highway and only a couple of miles from town. It is about an equal distance to both of our parent's. All for a price much lower than we could have hoped for. I'm proud of Eric for his careful searching and not settling for a place that has nice barns or good land but no house.
