Home Tour: Part 2

Welcome to the second and final instalment of my home tour!  Because we lived in the camper, we had almost no furniture when we moved into the trailer house.  The only pieces of furniture we put in the camper included three different shelves, and two sets of plastic drawers.  That does not go very far when everyone needs beds to sleep on!  We purchased the living room couches in anticipation of moving to the trailer but didn't see a reason for buying new beds when we had nice ones back in Minnesota.  We made do by scavenging the mattresses out of the camper until we could get beds moved out here.

Eric's family helped out out a lot with getting beds.  His dad and brother disassembled and loaded all of our beds, along with a bunch of other things we needed from the house.  Then his mom drove his brother's pickup pulling the trailer full of our stuff out to us.  I'm glad they were able to help us with that because it would have been a whole lot harder for us to pull a trailer to Minnesota then pull it back to ND.  Harder for me because that would have meant we would need to take the pickup instead of the van.  I'm not a fan of driving the pickup back to MN, the van has a DVD player for the kids.  I think that is all you need to know.  Thanks guys!

And concluding the tour, we will stop by the bathroom.  Not too exciting as far as bathroom's go but more than one person can be in it at once!  Our water heater in the camper was, well, camper size.  That translated into quick showers, racing to finish before the hot water was all used up.  Now we can enjoy a leisurely shower with hot water, room to turn around a great shower head.  Ahhhh, that is the life!

For all my complaining about the camper, it really served us well for the time we needed it.  We saved thousands of dollars by owning what we lived in and it was a way for us to all be together here.  Housing is so hard to find that we would have paid quite a bit more for something half as nice.  It was kind of fun living in a small space.  Summer wasn't bad at all, the kids and I spent some time every day outside.  Our lot backed up to the park and was on a dead end street so there was not much for traffic.  We had an extra fridge and the upright freezer with us so food storage was not as big of a deal even though the fridge in the camper was miniature.  I would do it again without a second thought!
