House For Sale

Last night our house went on the market. Today the realtor came over and took a few pictures so he could get a listing online. We have been cleaning, painting and hiding clutter like crazy people for the past three days. I must say, we did pretty good in just a couple of days. True, some projects have taken longer (landscaping outside, the as yet unfinished deck painting project) but others were completed with surprising speed (patching shingles on the roof, painting the furnace room in the basement). We had the realtor over in early June when we first found a house we wanted to buy and we asked him what we needed to do to get the house ready to sell. He pointed out several things we could fix, put away, clean up, paint. We designated two rooms for boxes and random junk and cleaned out most of the rest of the house. Eric and his cousin finished the landscaping project out front in just a couple days. He also hauled several pickup loads of garbage over to the farm and a load of stuff that belongs to his brother. I started boxing up some things we don't use: the entire contents of the book shelf and all my formal serving dishes and platters. I have not even used most of the crystal we got for our wedding two and a half years ago.
I don't think the basement has ever been as free of clutter and junk since I have lived here. There is still a room full of boxes, mostly baby clothes and miscellaneous baby items, but we moved a lot of stuff out and painted a room that up until Sunday afternoon was just bare Sheetrock. We even went through the massive and daunting shelf full of farm clothes and either threw out or sent over to Eric's brother anything that was beyond using or too small.
Now all we need is someone willing to buy our house for something near what we are asking! Once that happens we can move out to the country and have somewhere for the dogs to be outside and room for the kids to be out without the constant worry that they would run to the major highway that runs past our house. And just maybe we could move somewhere that offers a chance for some kind of side income that would either supplement or replace all together my income and I can stay home and take care of babies.
